Drama
A number of pupils, of all ages, are involved each year in the School drama productions.
The Junior School ends each year with a staged musical, involving all pupils in Year 3 to Year 6. Recent productions have included ‘A Victorian Twist’, ‘Roger Ravenbeard’, ‘Franckie and Me’ and ‘Joseph’. In addition drama is also a feature in Junior School assemblies to which parents are invited. The annual trip to a pantomime in December is eagerly looked forward to.
The main drama event in the Senior School is usually in the spring term. Plays in recent years have included ‘Blood Brothers’, ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Lord of the Flies’, while musicals have included ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, ‘Grease’ and ‘Footloose’. Derby Grammar School and Derby High School have worked closely together on a number of productions.
House Drama in the autumn term gives many more pupils the opportunity to appear on stage and many pupils have weekly peripatetic speech and drama lessons.
